The room
Jharokha is named for the carved window balconies of old Hyderabad, and the room borrows from them: brass handis on the shelves, jaali screens between the tables and a terrace of six tables on the courtyard for the cooler months. Breakfast is a buffet from 7 am — idli, dosa and pesarattu made to order, upma, a north Indian counter with stuffed parathas, eggs any way, and the bakery from Chai & Co. Lunch and dinner are à la carte. The Hyderabadi part of the menu is cooked the slow way: the dal makhani simmers overnight, the kachche gosht ki biryani is sealed and cooked on dum, and the qubani ka meetha starts with dried Afghan apricots soaked the day before.
Worth knowing. Biryani is cooked in batches from 11 am and can run out on weekend afternoons — reserve, or ask us to keep a portion for you.
